Pierre-Louis Moreau: La Petite Ville
Edmond Sagot (1857-1917) opened an artistic bookstore in Paris in 1881 at 53 rue d'Argout which, from 1884, would develop its activities towards the print trade. The house “Ed. Sagot” then took as its address 39 bis rue de Châteaudun. Sagot sold drawings, etchings, lithographs, then, in 1891, published the world's first catalogue of posters illustrated by modern and contemporary artists. After Sagot’s death, in 1917, his son-in-law Maurice le Garrec takes over the gallery under the name of ‘Sagot-Le Garrec, merchant of prints", and moves to 18 rue Guénégaud.
